Dubai Cares, COP28 join hands

COP28, which will be held at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023, the incoming Presidency of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Dubai Cares have decided to collaborate on a number of climate education outcomes.

The global education collaboration platform RewirEd Summit’s second iteration, which this year will focus on climate action education and methods, will be hosted by Dubai Cares in conjunction with the global climate summit.
From now until the summit, Dubai Cares will also take the lead in a global planning process to mobilise public and private actors around new policy, financing, and technological outcomes that both prepare students for the net-zero economy and improve accessibility and resilience in the education sector.

The announcement was made in the presence of Majid Al Suwaidi, Director-General of COP28, and Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Cares, at the 2023 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

Dubai Cares, a civil society organisation formally affiliated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications, will support the efforts of COP28 by bringing together climate and education stakeholders from all over the world to unify efforts toward a common vision. Dubai Cares recognises the importance of integrating climate and education as key drivers for a sustainable and prosperous future.

“Climate change is the defining challenge of our era. It is essential for us to empower our youth and society with the knowledge and skills to become changemakers and contribute to meaningful action,” said Al Suwaidi. “We welcome this partnership with Dubai Cares, to connect with diverse stakeholders, create capacity-building opportunities and mobilise a concerted drive for inclusive climate progress.”
